SPEAR is Stephen Page’s directorial debut feature film telling a contemporary Aboriginal story through movement and dance.

Collaborating with dancers and creatives from Bangarra Dance Theatre, Stephen brought this visually stunning dance work to the screen. Through a unique collaboration between artists and filmmakers, this ground breaking film follows the journey of a young Aboriginal man Djali, as he tries to understand what it means to be a man with ancient traditions in a modern world.

From the outback of Australia to the gritty urban streets of Sydney, SPEAR is a poignant reflection of the continuing cultural connection of Indigenous people. SPEARis an intimate journey with one of Australia’s most celebrated artists, as he brings this modern day mythological story to the screen.

More information is available at the official Spear website.

Teachers can access the film through Kanopyclickview or The Education Shop.
