Our Safe Dance Program serves as the driving force for dancers to achieve physical and mental excellence while establishing a framework for long-term success.

The Safe Dance Program was established in 2011 and encompasses the use of a biopsychosocial and cultural model where the physical and mental health of each dancer is a priority. Over the last few years, the program has been carefully analysed and crafted by our Rehearsal Director Daniel Roberts and Clinical Director Michelle Wong. As the company continues to push physical boundaries to portray such important and meaningful storytelling, the Safe Dance Program evolves accordingly.

Clinical Director and Company Physiotherapist, Michelle Wong oversees the dancers' fitness and injury management and a team of medical and allied health professionals. Dancers participate in Pilates, sports nutrition education, yoga, physiotherapy and massage as part of their injury prevention and maintenance programs. In addition, a specific strength and conditioning training program led by High Performance Manager, Oliver Ransan-Elliott, gives the dancers another layer of protection against injury and boosts their fitness.

As we begin our national tour, our Safe Dance team travels with the company. They provide continuity of care in injury prevention and management, supporting each individual artist for longevity in their craft.
