Executive Director Lissa Twomey has announced her resignation as she moves on to a new opportunity as Executive Director of The Australian Ballet.

The Chair, Board, dancers and staff express their heartfelt gratitude to Lissa for leading the company successfully through the pandemic and a significant period of change, supporting the important work that Bangarra does on and off the stage, and strongly positioning Bangarra for its next chapter under the Artistic Directorship of Frances Rings in 2023.

Stephen Page, Artistic Director, says:  "Lissa's contribution to Bangarra has been enormous and has cemented an enduring imprint that will ensure our future flourishes."

Frances Rings, Associate Artistic Director: “My deepest thanks and respect to Lissa Twomey for her support during this period of transition. I feel privileged to lead the Company artistically and culturally into the future.”

Bangarra Chair, Phillipa McDermott, says: “We would like to thank Lissa for the energy and passion she has brought to her role, her contribution has been immense and impactful.  While we are sad to see Lissa go, we wish her only the very best for her new role and adventure.  Thanks to Lissa and the team the organisation is in great shape going forward. We will advise of our next steps for her replacement in due course.

We look forward to a continued relationship with Lissa within the dance sector. Lissa will formally step down at the beginning of December, but will forever be a part of the Bangarra family.
