Background Connecting to the source

Story telling in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander life is the means by which cultural knowledge, systems and values are preserved and transferred.

Creating SandSong

SandSong is inspired by stories from the lands of the Wangkatjungka and Walmajarri people of the Great Sandy Desert and Kimberley regions of Western Australia.

Bringing the stories to the stage: the creative process

The creative process for making the work Sandsong started with extensive research and discussion with Wangkatjungka and Walmajarri Cultural knowledge holders on Bunuba country near the township of Fitzroy Crossing in Western Australia.
