Biography:

Véronique is a highly versatile violinist, vocalist and composer, effortlessly bridging the divide between classical and contemporary art forms. In demand as a leader, chamber musician, mentor and collaborative artist, Véronique is known for her inclusive sound world, willingness to experiment across genres and her work on the six string violin. She is dedicated to the creation of new music and the exploration of sound through diverse collaborations. As a contemporary classical soloist, Véronique performed Arvo Part’s Tabula Rasa with the Sydney Symphony, Peteris Vask’s Lonely Angel at Four Winds Festival, she gave the Australian premieres of Boulez’s Anthemes and Brian Howard’s Desires Ingrained—both for solo violin—as well as Cathy Milliken’s Crie, and Holly Harrison’s Ice Giant, both written especially for her. In 2022 she gave the Australian premiere of Unsuk Chin’s theatrical work Double Bind for Backstage Music and recently performed Nico Muhly’s electric violin concert ‘Seeing is Believing’ with the Tasmanian Symphony at MonaFoma 2023. Véronique is currently touring HEARTLAND, her ARIA nominated album co-composed with didgeridoo legend William Barton at festivals nationally. Their work Kalkani was recently orchestrated and performed with the QSO, opening their 2023 Maestro season and they performed their much loved work Bush{fire} Requiem most recently with Camerata in Brisbane and with the Sydney Symphony for Symphony Under the Stars in Parramatta Park as part of Sydney Festival 2024.

 

Véronique’s strong classical background has seen her work extensively with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Ensemble Offspring, Sydney Dance Company and most recently as Associate Music Director for Bangarra Dance Theatre’s new work WUDJANG: not the past. For nearly a decade, she was a member of Joanna Newsom’s touring band and has led string sections for diverse contemporary artists including Gurrumul, Fleet Foxes, Neil Finn, Damon Albarn , Cinematic Orchestra, Tim Minchin, Sarah Blasko to name a few and features on Australian albums, films and TV.

 

Most recently she featured as guest violin with Ohio band The Breeders on their 2024 Australian tour.
Véronique’s plays a 1900 Leandro Bisiach violin and a custom Spur six string violin.
