- Tamara is a proud descendant of the Biripi Peoples of the mid-New South Wales Coast.
- Biography:
From the age of three, Tamara trained in classical ballet and commercial dance at leading schools in Sydney. In 2019, she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance) from the Victorian College of the Arts. Her artistry spans diverse performance and creative practices, encompassing contemporary dance, ballet, performance art, children’s theatre, circus and harness work, contact improvisation, film, puppeteering, and physical theatre.
Tamara has collaborated with an impressive array of artists and companies, including Stephanie Lake, Alisdair MacIndoe, Ngioka Bunda-Heath, Vicki Van Hout, Legs on the Wall, and Na Djinang Circus. In 2022, she was a company member with Sydney Dance Company and has since performed in numerous independent projects and productions, working with Moorambilla Voices, Ginevra Cicatello, Karul Projects, and others.
Recent highlights of Tamara’s career include performing in The Ring Cycle with Dance North and Opera Australia, participating in Bangarra Dance Theatre’s Horizon season at the Sydney Opera House in 2024, and making her international touring debut with THAW by Legs on the Wall. She began 2025 by performing in Manifest, a groundbreaking new work by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Larbi’s first Australian premiere.
Driven by a deep passion for cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural collaborations, Tamara uses dance as a powerful medium to honor her culture, deepen her connection to the land, and engage meaningfully with her collaborators and audiences.
Tamara is beyond excited and honoured to be joining Bangarra, to have the opportunity to deepen her connection to culture, family, self and her artistry through the company, and to add her voice and story to the lineage and magic of Bangarra Dance Theatre.
