Tanya is the Deputy Campaign Director for Recognise – the project to raise community awareness and support for constitutional change to recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Australian Constitution. Prior to this, Tanya has been in advocacy and consulting roles with the aim of increasing philanthropic investment into Indigenous development.
Tanya was an integral member of the team responsible for the model design and establishment of the National Congress for Australia’s First Peoples. Most recently Tanya worked with a steering committee to establish the Australian Indigenous Governance Institute and is the Deputy Chair of the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Equality Council. Tanya also provides support to Dr Lowitja O’Donoghue through her role with the Lowitja Institute for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health research.
In 2012 Tanya was recognised in the inaugral list of ’100 Women of Influence Awards’ run by Westpac and the Australian Financial Review to recognise a new generation of women who are achievers in Australian business and society. Tanya currently sits on the boards of The Australian Centre for Social Innovation, the Australian Indigenous Governance Institute and the national board of the Red Cross. Tanya joined the Bangarra board in January 2011 and departed in 2013.
